I updated to iOS 8.2 yesterday and my Lightning to VGA Apple-brand adapter no longer works. I get an error message that reads, "Downloading accessory firmware. Your accessory will not function until the download completes." There is, however, nothing downloading. Any idea how to download the firmware necessary or how to solve the problem?

I am having this problem with my Lightning to HDMI adapter as well with both my iPad and iPhone using iOS 8.02. I am trying a full restore of my iPad, but it is going to take 3 hours, so will provide feedback later today.
A full restore using iTunes solved the problem. Just took a long time. Next time I will hook my computer up to the router, rather than using Wifi, which might speed up the download!
How do I do a restore? This isn't the same thing as a jailbreak is it? Because I'm not interested in doing that.
first, make sure you have lots of time (3-4 hours).
2. Hook your iPhone/iPad to your computer and start iTunes
3. On the sync screen for your divice back up your divice to your computer. This is in the centre part of the sync screen. Backup to your computer is faster to restore than using iCloud.
4. Turn off find my device in the settings menu on it in the iCloud settings (at the bottom, scroll down)
5. in the top part of the sync screen you will see a button labeled Restore click it and then leave it to run. My restore took 3 hours.
6. Once your device is back to factory settings, (it will have synced your Apps etc) I did a second sync and turned find my iPad on again.
7. My adapter is working again.

Do a full restore of your iPad/iPhone. Not just a backup. That solved the problem for me. See my post above.
GUess that is what I did.. It took me 3hours! But nothing! is Apple going to release something? Need it in class tomorrow

TThis is totally lame. Showed up to give a presentation today and my iPad was a brick. Apple needs to fix this asap!
APple - what is the eta on a fix? Doing a reset is not an option.
I am not an Apple expert, but the full Restore was the only thing that worked for me. It solved the problem for me, as I too had a presentation on the weekend and the Restore fixed the problem. I suggest finding the time to do the Restore, but it is up to you.

I updated my Ipad Air from 8.2 to 8.3. I tried to connect my Ipad to my computer monitor using lightning to vga cable. As far as i saw it works. There was no connection error or disconnection problem between them. Ios 8.3 seems to solved this frustrating issue.
