There's no reason why it shouldn't. You have to make sure you have the Sandisk Connect app on your phone.
Be cautious when purchasing Sandisk media drives for Apple devices, wireless or not. They do not work with any Apple products that don't support DRM decryption of iTunes purchased content. Apple customer care is unable to assist as the Sandisk drive is a third party hardware peripheral. I have yet to approach Sandisk for help, but as my iPad, iPhone and MacBook are totally current in IOS and El Capitan, the likelihood is that this Sandisk device is just an expensive lump of aluminum. I honestly don't think Apple should sell this when they KNOW it is incompatible with most, if not all, of their devices. Has anyone experienced this disappointment and do you know of a work-around?

I'm really not sure what that means. My Sandisk Connect wireless device works fine with my iPhone 6 and with my iPhone 5S before that.
As does mine, a perfect match
I agree with the original post. I am unable to view movies that I have purchase from iTunes, wirelessly, because there is an error which state that since Apple Inc has gone to Safari 8.0 it prevents functionality. Why would Apple sale the product in the store when they know full well what has happened?
