We have a new MacBook Pro and I have found that there are no Apple or Canon Yosemite compatible drivers for our Canon iP4300 printer. Are there any other sources for drivers that will work?

The last printer driver that Canon released for the iP4300 was for OS X 10.8. You may be able to install and use this driver on OS X 10.10 so here is a link from the Canon Australia web site. Note that this driver is not signed for Yosemite so Gatekeeper will block its installation. To get past Gatekeeper, right-click on the driver installer and select Open from the pop-up menu that appears. You will now be able to install the driver.
If you have any issues with using the Canon iP4300 driver then there is an alternate printer driver package called Gutenprint. It is also not signed for Yosemite so you will have to use the same procedure above to install the Gutenprint driver package.
Print system file locations changed in Yosemite - all drivers need to be updated.
I have an idea on how to use the old driver. NO guarantees.
For all who may be reading this -- this is for Yosemite -- it reduces security by relaxing sandboxing. It is a workaround, not a permanent fix.
Use the Terminal utility to run the two commands below -
sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf'
sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
(sudo means superuser do - this is your admin user on OS X. It asks for your password - but it hides it from you when you type - for security)
