Q: Markers in Compressor 4.1.3

I am having trouble with adding compression markers in my file. When I add a marker, the command toggles to "remove marker," even if I move away from the current frame. If I move the cursor to the end of the file, then the command will return to "add marker."

I have a pretty dense motion among the pixels, which doesn't compress too well unless I add markers fairly close together, which I've done easily in older versions of Compressor.

Is adding markers close together no longer possible? Or is there some other way to create markers closer together in high-motion sections?

Thanks.

Make a marker, or select one already made.

Look in the Inspector, you'll see a menu for Marker Type.

    Select Compression.

Now, if you're adding that many compression markers, I think you need to re-evaluate your compression settings.  That many markers is a clear indication you need to tweak compression settings to get a cleaner result.

    Thank you BenB,

It looks like the arrow keys do not update the toggle from Remove Marker to Add Marker any more. That is really too bad.

Yes, you are right about too many markers is a bad idea. I have footage with lots of motion of similar colored objects (imagine blue bubbles moving rapidly) and filling the screen for certain segments. Most encoding settings wash out these bubbles, leaving a blue haze where the bubble would be. Beside the sections, regular settings do a beautiful job on the rest of the film. I've only been able to solve this issue with compression markers within close frames through the bubble scenes. Any suggestions for what else I might try?

    Thanks.
