Q: Iphone 4 - Unable to get service

My Iphone 4 has for the past few days been showing " Cannot make or receive calls. Restore from Itunes". I did a restore from an earlier backup, but it still shows no service. A check at settings under ICCID shows No SIM when there is a SIM card. Is the phone faulty or the SIM card is? I have no problem using wifi for emails & other chat apps.

Version is 7.1.2(11D257)

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2

After I turned mobile off for a few days and power up again, the service is back on. It will become "no service" again after a few days though. I just switch off and on a few times and now it seems to work.
