Safari and Keychain access will not respond.

I am having trouble with my Keychain Login Pop up boxes not accepting any passwords, therefore never going away. While trying to fix this problem, my Safari and Keychain Access will not respond. I have tried re-installing OS..wouldn't finish the install. Updated Safari, now I am downloading Yosemite to try that update. Any infor is appreciated. Thanks
