Q: I can't connect my MacBook Pro to personal hotspot

I can't connect my MacBook Pro to a personal hotspot.  I went through the normal steps to set up a personal hotspot.  I am able to connect my iPad Air to my iPhone 6+, but I cannot connect my MacBook Pro.  My personal hotspot shows up in the wifi menu, but when I choose it, it comes back with a message that it can't find the network.

    Howdy Jpaulking,

The article linked below details how to go about using Wireless Diagnostics to resolve issues with connecting to Wi-Fi networks on your Mac.

    Hi Allen,

    Thanks for your response.

I spent over an hour on the phone with Apple Tech. Support (levels 1 & 2).  We tried everything, including wireless diagnostics, re-doing internet configurations, deleting preference files, and several other steps.

Occasionally we could get my MacBook Pro to connect to my iPhone, but it wasn’t consistent.  The tech. support guy kind of admitted its a bug.  He suggested I use a USB cable to connect the two…. and that does work evertime.

    Thanks again,

    Paul
