Q: How can I make iCloud drive remote only (no local copy)?

Hi!

I am looking for a solution to have the iCloud drive remote only, that is to safe the files online without a local copy. This is easily doable with Microsoft's OneDrive, but I couldn't find such a function on the Mac. The reason is, I do have a 200GB storage space that I would like to use as backup, without a local duplicate.

Many thanks in advance,

That is not supported. iCloud Drive is not meant as a "remote only" storage or backup, its main purpose is to give you access to all your documents across all devices and to update the documents across all devices. The local shadow copies will ensure that you have access to your document, even if you are not connected to the internet.
