Using multiple desktops

Using IMAC and Mavericks, I've set up three different desktops for my 3 different businesses. I want to keep a couple of folders relating to each business on their relevant desktop. I don't want ALL the folders to appear on ALL the desktops. At the moment, all folders relating to all businesses come up on each desktop. I've searched online for the last hour and I can't find a way of managing the folders so that the relevant folders stay on the relevant desktop. Any help would be really appreciated 🙂
