How to transfer files to Ipad without wifi or itunes?

Hello, I am new to iPad.

I need to transfer a Word file from a public computer onto my iPad (to later be opened with one of the editing programs).

I do not have wifi access here.

I am on a public computer so I cannot install iTunes (which I understand would be the normal procedure).

I tried just transferring the file onto iPad storage but it does not allow this and I understand iPads do not have a file browsing system (!!!!!)

Any way I can do this?

iPad Air, iOS 8.1.3

In your exact situation, there's no solution. APple's work flow only considers wifi transfers or plugged in transfers via iTunes.

Probably the only solution for your immediate situation is to mail the file to yourself then go and find some open wifi, (mcdonalds, starbucks etc), connect your iPad and download it from your e-mail.

For the future, there are some wireless flash drives that you may be able to use. The drives have their own little wifi hotspots that you connect your iPad to to transfer the files via an app.

Your U is way behind the times.

+ You going to have to buy an SD card. These are the cards used with cameras.

==> I assume this device will work with other files than pictures.

iFlash Drive
Here is a nice adapter. You can move data in both directions!

There are other apps that you can install that allow you to use the USB cable to drag and drop files from a computer to the iPad, but you have to install the helper app on your computer as well as the iPad. That certainly doesn't work with a public computer

The iPad is designed to use WiFi so that you don't have to be bogged down with carrying cables and peripheral devices. It was originally designed to be used as an adjunct to one's own computer and iTunes library, hence the ability to connect to iTunes became important and remains important today to many users that still rely on iTunes. I am one of those iPad users.

The iPad has come a long way in design and capability, but those same things still apply to how the iPad works even 5+ years after the first iPad hit the market. The iPad does not serve every need like a computer, and it really isn't suppoosed to take the place of a computer - unless you can live with Apple's somewhat restrictive constraints.

To except the lack of innovation to make a product that does not work in situations with no Wi-Fi, iTunes, or third-party devices, cannot be considered solved!! This issue is one of Apple's biggest weakness in iOS devices. I used them frustratingly a lot , waiting year after year hoping they would fix this but they care not... Not everyone lives in areas where there is an abundance of Wi-Fi or able to afford these third-party devices...

Is your iPad wifi only or cellular? If it is a cellular model, get a Dropbox free account (or box.net, sugarsync, etc). From the public computer, use a web browser to transfer the file to your Dropbox account. Then on the iPad allow cellular data use for the Dropbox app and fetch the file over a cellular data connection. The caveat there would be you may not be able to install the Dropbox app over cellular (I don't know if it's installer exceeds the 100MB limit).

Or upload the file anyway and just download it to the iPad later when you do have a wifi connection.

i have no idea what iMazing is, so can't comment on it. If it's something that needs to be installed on the public computer, then it's not going to help in the OP's situation as they almost certainly cannot install software into a public computer. They should be able to use a web browser to access online storage accounts though and transfer files.

I have a solution.

This is your solution: You should know that in terms of FILE TRANSFERRING and FILE MANAGEMENT, Apple devices (Ipad and Iphone) are really ridiculous !!

Don't drive yourself crazy. I spent days and days to find a solution, I found some funny complicated solution on the internet for a very simple need.

In addition to this, I found lots of weaknesses in this matter on IOS.

Working with Apple devices for file management is headache and headache.
