Gmail emails are delayed or not sending to iCloud

A very strange issue started out of the blue a couple of days ago. I have my gmail account forwarding to my iCloud (me.com). My friend asked me if I got his email the other day, never went through. After some testing I found out that all of a sudden Gmail messages are not being forwarded or sent to my iCloud. Some are even bouncing back. Any idea what the problem might be? Why would it start out of the blue?

Something I noticed while troubleshooting this for myself and two friend.

Messages from google based servers to @me.com are delayed or not delivered.

Messages from google based server to @mac.com or @icloud.com are fine.

So some how it seems to be specific to @me.com, or at least for the 2 people I know having the problem.

So as a work around for now, I've told a couple people to make sure to use my @mac instead of @me

edit: struck out @icloud as work around as it is not working as I thought it was.

Just ran a test. Sent 4 emails from gmail to my iCloud. Two emails sent to my @me.com and two emails sent to my @icloud.com. Both @icloud.com went through almost immediately. Neither @me.com has come through yet.

This is not an adequate solution, however, since no one has my @icloud.com email and I never use it.

Can anyone else confirm that their issues are only relating to @me.com?

Strange that iCloud appears to be working better at this point for me. I don't know if this is temporary or indicative of the problem. Being that you are having issues with iCloud, maybe it's just a fluke on my end. I have temporarily switched my forwarding to my @icloud.com version. Again, hopefully Apple or Gmail figures out the problem across all platforms, emails, etc. Come on now, folks!

I re-sent myself test emails just now. 1 came in instantly and I got all excited, but the other still hasn't arrived (5 mins so far). I spent an hour on the phone to a senior tech guy at Apple yesterday. He passed it on to their technicians and apparently flagged it as highest priority. He thought we should hear something in a day or so. Fingers crossed!! I rely on my iCloud for work. If this isn't going to get fixed promptly, I'll have to switch to a gmail even though I can't push it to my phone. 15 minutes delay is better than 2 days!!

It was my mac.com email that wasn't coming through. However, I just this minute sent a test email to my mac.com address and it came through instantly. (Still haven't received the test message I sent several hours ago nor the several emails my wife had sent over the past few days.) However, separate test messages just sent to icloud.com and me.com haven't arrived. Weird....

Same thing going on here. Has been for a few days and totally random but only from gmail accounts (that we are aware of). We are not on a black list or blocked. Very frustrating and we have been forced to open a personal gmail account to bypass this until they get it fixed. Will continue to check this thread if/when there has been a viable solution.

Everything is working normally for me this morning. I'm not sure what the problem was or its source, but I'm glad it appears to be fixed. I did communicate the problem to Apple, Gmail and Time Warner. Hopefully the responsible party investigated and applied the remedy. I will follow up with Apple because I have the tech's email. I'll let this group know if I find out what the problem was. Pam
