Q: Gmail emails are delayed or not sending to iCloud

A very strange issue started out of the blue a couple of days ago. I have my gmail account forwarding to my iCloud (me.com). My friend asked me if I got his email the other day, never went through. After some testing I found out that all of a sudden Gmail messages are not being forwarded or sent to my iCloud. Some are even bouncing back. Any idea what the problem might be? Why would it start out of the blue?

Doesn't have anything to do with mail settings.  If I go to the icloud web portal (www.icloud.com) the message isn't there either.  I use the @icloud.com domain.

Call apple back (I phoned three times). Ask them to check to see if it looks like you've send over 1000 messages in a day. I'm sure you didn't and I hadn't either but to the tech it looked like I had. Ask them to send a note to engineering. Also, go through the google mail help pages and fill send them raw header. I did both of these things and mine is fixed this morning. This is the path I followed in order to be able to send them the raw header of one of my delayed emails. Thanks for the detailed info.

I just heard from a friend of mine that she's been trying to send me email all weekend, and it won't go through (Error 451; too many rejections).

Comcast is my ISP and have never had a .mac email address.

If I have time to call Apple, I will. I can't report it to Google because the mail never goes through. Sigh.

She should be the one to report to google and apple if she has a mac. Can you send her email? If so, send her the link to the discussion and post. --Pam

I just got off the phone with apple. The tech said that he talked to another person today with the same problem. He assured me that it has been escalated to engineering and that are working on it. There is no resolution yet but he said I would be phoned or emailed when it was resolved. Everything was working pretty well this morning for me but now I've hit another delay. However, I do have some peace of mind now. Apple is working on fixing it. --Pam

Problem is back in full force. I wish I had a moment to call Apple, just don't have the time to do that unfortunately. Arrrrgh!!!

For me too. Apple is working on it. I turned off my forwarding because if it has something to do with the number of messages sent being tagged as excessive, then having gmail try over and over again isn't going to help the problem. I bet it will be working in the morning again for a while. I'm sure they'll get it resolved soon. Pam

I hope so, Pam. I can turn off forwarding, that's not my main issues (can always check gmail). The problem is the people emailing me directly. Thanks for your help.

It's technology, things go wrong. Show me a tech company that gets it right 100% of the time. I've honestly never had an issue like this before. It's surprising.

Are they emailing you directly at gmail or iCloud? Pam

iCloud (@me.com). Having more success with emails from Gmail being forwarded.

So some people are emailing you at your gmail address and others at your iCloud address? You can check both. You could also switch the forwarding, i.e., forward your iCloud to your gmail. Whoa. That sounds scary at this point. Pam

Not saying things don't go wrong but I hate it when companies act like they can do no wrong.  That was Steve's attitude. Seems like the attitude of that other Apple guy that was posting things here.

I will try forwarding iCloud to Gmail - will see if that works.

    EDIT: It does not.
