My AppleTV is not recognized by iTunes

Many people having issues with the update (including me) My Apple TV stop working.... and is not even been recognized by iTunes.

Make sure you are following the steps exactly (disconnect all cables, connect micro usb, reconnect power) Connect directly to computer, not a keyboard port or usb hub. Try a different cable.

I was able to get my daughter's laptop (MacBook Pro) to work with my Apple TV but my PC (iTunes 12.1.1.4) will not see my Apple TV. There are no Airport options on it.

I'm having the same problem. Blinking light, apple icon. Is not recognized by iTunes. 90 day phone support expired. Bought it about 3 months ago. I live about 3 hours from nearest apple store. Don't know what to do. Seems like an expensive paper weight. Thing is it worked great last night.

Then that would be an issue with the PC preventing connection. Not sure what you mean by 'Airport options'

Isn't iTunes supposed to recognize my apple tv on my apple air without changing security? All have same apple id.

There may be a setting that is preventing the connection, it all depends on how it was setup. It doesn't have anything to do with Apple ID.

The steps need to be followed exactly or it won't work.

You will need to try a different cable, if it was bundled with another device it may be only designed to charge or to work with that device.

I don't know of what setting on the computer would prevent being picked up by iTunes. iTunes picks up my iphone and iPad fine. I have restore both my iPhone and IPad using the computer connection after one of the many IOS update issues. I did not set the apple TV on the computer - I set it up on the TV screen - which I obviously can't use now. My router and Wifi and air play worked fine prior to today so don't know why my router and wifi would decide it didn't like the apple tv or has settings preventing it from connecting to my computer using the micro cable. My iPhone, computer, iPad also work fine today with my router and wifi. However, I understand that the next step would be to buy another cable to check if the cable I have is working. Will check Best Buy and see if they have one tomorrow. That seems to be the next step..

Only you would have access to your firewall/security settings and it would depend on how it was setup. It could also very likely be the cable. The Apple TV is currently in recovery mode, for the OP that was due to a power outage that occurred during the update, the only way in this case is to restore via iTunes.

I had this same issue and my guess is your micro usb cable is the problem. I had to try two different cables before I found one that worked. Turns out it was the cable from my kids Leapster that did the trick. I did have to unplug and replug in the Apple TV power before my computer would recognize the Apple TV after I had the correct cable.
