Q: iTunes won't open on my PC anymore

It startes About a week ago, anytime i attempt to open the iTunes application on my computer, I get an error message that says "iTunes has stopped working," followed by "check for a solution online and close the program" or "close the program."

Neither option produces any results, besides the program merely closing.

I tried to reach out to Apple support, and no one responded to me within the 48 hour time span i was given. My case number is 758868060.

I have tried everything besides formatting my computer (which is not an option for me). I tried uninstalling (then reinstalling) the program and anything related to Apple, tried opening iTunes in safe mode. Nothing is working. As of yet, I'm unable to make the application work in any way; it's getting rather frustrating.

    Howdy Moezles,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

It sounds like you’re seeing an alert message when attempting to launch iTunes on your PC, and you’ve already tried reinstalling iTunes and its related components. Take a look at the article linked below which will help you isolate the issue and suggest additional troubleshooting steps that you can take.

For general advice see  Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies. The notes below the box include tips on removing troublesome components.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

I've had identical problem, did identical troubleshooting. Safe mode, uninstall, reinstall. I also went on Microsoft support and we did a file system check, all kinds of things and found nothing. He suggested that I purchase a virus check and tune up from them; I declined due to time and also it just didn't feel right.

So I ran my own Eset antivirus check, updated windows, stopped some unnecessary processes, various cleanups. I went to one of the links listed above and tried installing the old video driver version of itunes, and it still does not work. Same error message.

I honestly have no good idea where to go next with this.

Thanks everyone for your insight. I'll take a look at those links.

In the meantime, I've backed everything up to a separate computer. It just stinks a bit
