Can iPod touch (5th gen) get a data plan instead of wifi?

😕 I don't have my iPod yet , but can anyone please enlighten me to rather or not if the iPod can get a data plan on it and not just wifi?! If they made an iPod with built in wifi wherever you go, I would definitely buy that ! And with a touch ID home button.
