Q: Airdrop transfer between iPad mini3 and mac book air

Hi,

I've a MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2011) with OS Yosemite and iPad mini 3 with OS 8.1.

I've have the airdrop option in Finder windows of my Mac book air. Still i don't see my iPad mini3 on the window. Is airdrop possible between these two devices.

I'd kept bluetooth and wifi on, on both the devices when i was trying to do a transfer. But i don't see the iPad mini3 on my finder window.

any ideas why its not working??
