Why is my iMac using Mobile Me?

Using iMac 8,1- Intel Core 2 Duo - 2.66Ghz - OSX 10.7.5 (11G63).

Somehow iCloud and Mail are using MOBILE ME!!! So MAIL is not working properly. Not receiving emails. Not being synchronized. How do I correct this??

Is this for an iCloud e-mail account? Try setting the account up again.

I have a smiliar problem the zombie application BACKUP from Mobile me is trying to backup again connecting to long dead Mobile Me. Can't get rid of it. Seems like the attempt to connect to Mobile me is in an endless loop.
