Is mail being censored and/or controlled?

I have had a dotmac account since they offered the service (then a paid for service)

Recently I joined a forum (gun related) which required email authentication i.e. they send an email with a "confirm" button - they require this as do many forums to keep spammers and nuisances away - you can't use a "junk" anonymous account like hotmail etc...

I waited a couple of hours - no email arrived, so I went back to the forum and clicked re-send email.

I waited a couple of hours - no email again.

I then found a contact us link on the website and sent a message asking why.

I got a reply "Apple block our emails - you will need to get a different email address"

Is this true?

If so how many other websites are blocked? and how do I find out which ones?

Then also if this is the case, can I still use mail.app if I get my own email server, or will I still encounter this issue?

Thank You

Thanks Roger - ar15 dot com is a website devoted to a forum.

this is the reply I received from the moderator

You cannot use any apple domain (@me, @mac, @icloud) as they do indeed block our e-mails. Many members have complained to them, but they are apparently anti-gun and will not allow them through.
Give us a different e-mail and we can insert it for you.

I was hoping to get confirmation or otherwise on this, if they are using "spam" as an excuse, I guess there is no way of knowing.

regards Graham
