My iPod touch 5g screen stopped working and i am sending it for repair but before i want to back it up on iTunes but iTunes does not allow me due that the iPod needs to be unlocked but i cant because the screen does not work. Any help Please.

You will have from an existing backup. The screen-lock security feature is doing its job
To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

So what you are telling me is that if i dont get the ipod unlocked there is no way i can get a backup?
That is correct. The screen-lock security feature is preventing you from backing up. That prevent a stolen iPod that has has screen-lock from being backed up to another computer where the information can be accessed.
