Fractal noise in Motion?

Anybody body know of a way to get fractal noise in Motion? Real, AE-ish fractal noise?

I'm trying to make a shockwave similar to Andrew Kramer's videocopilot shockwave

http://www.videocopilot.net/tutorials/shockwaves/

But key key to it is getting the fractal noise. u can't get caustics or clouds to produce the same effect.

I've seen Simon U.'s tutorial on doing a shockwave in Motion using caustics, but if just doesn't look as natural or organic as fractal noise can produce.

any plug ins I should know about?

Basically you can use the clouds generator to create "fractal noise". Since you are trying to reproduce this particular tutorial, you may want to check out these variation done by Simon Ubsdell. They are adaptations of the shockwaves tutorial with some additional techniques that are really nice.

Indeed!

Thanks for sharing, my kids in the school's Fllm Club will loving it!

(they love everything which makes Boom! and/or reminds to Harry Potter…)

Looks on first sight frightening complex, but it is lots of 'cloning' ...

Think of making it a Generator, adding some rigging to make it 'controllable' in FCPX ....

really nice ............ 🙂
