Mar 17, 2015 5:26 PM in response to lllaassby sobeadit,oh my gosh it worked! ok!!!
so in the menu of install fresh copy of os X mavericks, I agreed to the tersm and all that, but then it wanted me to put in my apple id and password to download from the apple store....how am I erasing and reinstalling (wiping) my drive if I am putting in my apple id?
so right now I am erasing my HD. I know this is not sufficient right? I need to reinstall os x but why is it asking for my apple id and password?
and how do I know if I havce other partitions that need erasing? in the menu at left my options to erase are Macintosh HD and then Install DVD (obviously not that one) and then below that "disk1 (OS X base system)

Mar 18, 2015 2:03 AM in response to sobeaditby lllaass,What do yo see if you go to Disk Utility?
By default there are three partitions:
- The OS partition
- The recovery partition
- The EFI partition used for boot.
You only need to erase the OS partition. Disk utility ma only show the the OS partition.
Alternately, you can try booting from the install DVD and erasing the the HD.
