Epson WF-2510: Scanner not working

Hi good people.

I've just upgraded to Yosemite, and my Epson WF-2510 printer/scanner/fax appeared to be working, until I tried to scan a document. I've even downloaded the drivers directly from Epson, to no avail. On launching the scanner, it appears to be working, then the error message comes up: Scanner stopped unexpectedly, or words to that effect. I am using a Wifi connection. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

I had to look for my usb lead to try it - no, I'm afraid that doesn't work either.

Is it only the scanner or you cannot also print?

Printer is working fine. I can't test the fax, but I'd assume that this requires the scanner to be working

You can fax a paper and see if the scanner is working properly.

Or make a hard copy of a paper.

If it does, it can be a software issue.

Yes, it scans all right and tries to send the fax. And also copies without any problem.

It is definitely a software issue - it was working before the upgrade to Yosemite.

Have you tried Applications/Image Capture or VueScan as a test?

Image capture couldn't detect the scanner, but VueScan works a treat!

According to this note, scanner is also supported on OS X Yosemite. Connect the MFP via USB and check for software updates.

It should be but there must be a bug. Check for updates shows everything up to date!

I have a Epson XP-800 and have the same issue- worked fine on my old iMac, but will only print on shiny new iMac running Yosemite. All software updated. I have deleted and re-added in printer list, shut down everything and restarted. Also will not show device in Image Capture. Really frustrating.
