nonstop emails

Mail version 4.6 on my iMac OSX 10.6.8. I am receiving the same emails into the inbox over and over. I have reset my incoming server info and changed the password. It does not appear to be a server issue as am not receiving the problem on the webmail. How can I get it to stop?

iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Try Mail/Mailbox/Rebuild

This did not resolve. I did the rebuild and then hit get mail and I began to get 754 emails ranging back from March 9!! Oh my.
