I have Mid-2012 Macbook Pro with a SSD drive installed. I installed a fresh windows 7 64bit pro and now I get this error when trying to open the bootcamp control panel.
"an error occurred while trying to access the startup disk settings"
I want to be able to right click Restart in Mac OS X but this doesn't work. It boots to a white screen and then it goes to windows again.

I got the tool kit and looks like for Macbook Pro 2012 AHCI is enabled out of box. Any other ideas?
Are there any events in the event viewer related to the helper? Any events related to the Service as shown in my screen shot?

Your Mac is a preUEFI model. From Bootcamp Info.plist...

UEFI will cause more problems. Can you delete Windows via BCA and re-install it from scratch again?

What is the exact model of your Mac?
For MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) - Technical Specifications , the BC drivers are Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621. Download these to the Mac on the Windows side, since your Wireless/Wired connection is working. From Control Panel -> Programs (or Add/Remove Programs), remove all Apple software individually. This will make your Mac not be able to connect to USB and/or network. Use the downloaded BC drivers and run setup.exe from the Bootcamp folder. This is to remove any corrupted drivers. You may want to create a System Restore point before you do any of these.
I have already done this with and even installed a different version of Bootcamp same results.
I tried to duplicate your problem with a clean install of W7 64-bit, and it works properly. Apart from the System Tray icon not working, does the Control Panel -> System -> Boot Camp also generate the same error? What is the version of Bootcamp.exe on your Windows installation?
i Can get to the trackpad settings and FN settings when I run as a different user. Main thing that diesnt work is the boot into Mac OS X which doesn't work in either.
This is a destructive suggestion. Back up your OS X partition. Using Internet Recovery, erase your hard drive, install a fresh copy of OS X. Do not restore OS X from backup yet. Install W7 and test Bootcamp. Please use a USB2 flash drive.
