Q: Boot Camp Control Panel Windows 7 64Bit

I have Mid-2012 Macbook Pro with a SSD drive installed. I installed a fresh windows 7 64bit pro and now I get this error when trying to open the bootcamp control panel.

"an error occurred while trying to access the startup disk settings"

I want to be able to right click Restart in Mac OS X but this doesn't work. It boots to a white screen and then it goes to windows again.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), 2007 Macbook Pro

This is a destructive suggestion. Back up your OS X partition. Using Internet Recovery, erase your hard drive, install a fresh copy of OS X. Do not restore OS X from backup yet. Install W7 and test Bootcamp. Please use a USB2 flash drive.

So I in a way already did this. I used a flash drive removed Mac OS X then I added bootcamp back with the correct drivers from USB 2.0. I had the same errors.

If you had tried one set of drivers, and tried another set without uninstalling the previous set, my concern is with drivers which may not be clean. This does require a bit of work.

I had a thought so when I moved from the Macbook 2010 I just moved my Hard drive to the Macbook 2012. When I did a fresh copy of Mac OS X on the 2012 Macbook I did it from the recovery partition. Could there maybe settings that are on the recovery that might be causing issues. My plan install Mac OS X from my bootable USB and partition the whole SSD. Clean copy of Mac and clean copy of windows. Think this might help?

From MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) - Technical Specifications, you have

    Graphics and video support

    • NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory5

From MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012) - Technical Specifications

    Graphics and Video Support

    • Intel HD Graphics 4000

These also provide AHCI functions. If you move a disk between the two systems, the BC Restart OSX Option needs to communicate with firmware, which may be causing you the most grief. I will check my 2012 MBP at home and see what other areas/drivers can cause problems.

The SATA controllers are very different in these two machines.

Can you look at System Report -> SATA and check what the negotiated link speed is?

    1. Please be careful with Trim Enabler on third-party SSDs. It modifies a kernel extension.

    2. In Windows, can you check what privileges are assigned for the AppleOSSManager.exe to run for each group or user? On my machine, I have...
