2009 BMW X5 won't play music from iPhone 6

I just got a 2009 BMW X5. I did get the iPhone 6 to pair with the car; however, I cannot get my music to play through the car's speakers.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? I even tried using my lightning plug in the USB and it says it's not compatible. This is NOT good.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Jason,

Thank you for the link to the article. In the interim, I have found out from BMW that the 2009 X5 was not compatible with an iPhone for streaming music. I have since purchased what they call a "Y cable" and am awaiting its delivery. One end of the Y fits into the USB port and the other into the auxiliary port, and then the long end is the lightning plug that goes into your phone.

I am assured by BMW that this will allow me to stream music and use the controls on the vehicle's steering wheel while viewing the information on the vehicle's screen.

I hope this information can help others in the same situation.

Thanks again,

Lori

Hello, starmate5.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

I understand that you are experiencing an issue playing music with your new car. Here is a troubleshooting article that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue. Also, you may need to reach out to BMW for assistance with this as your system may require an update.
