My iPad connects no problem but my phone doesn't work. When I select AirPlay from the pull up menu Apple TV is available. When I select it the check mark moves to Apple TV but nothing happens and after about 30 seconds it goes back to iPhone.
any thoughts?

Try these steps first
- Make sure that you have the latest software on your iOS device and Apple TV.
- Make sure that both devices have Wi-Fi turned on.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Network.- If you're trying to use peer-to-peer AirPlay, make sure that both devices have Bluetooth turned on.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Bluetooth.
