I understand you are experiencing issues redeeming credit from a gift card. Have you attempted to update your payment information, and then trying the purchase again?
Change or remove your payment information from your iTunes Store account (Apple ID) - Apple Support
After updating your payment information, you can check to see if your gift card balance is accurate by following these steps:See your iTunes credit balance - Apple Support
