Thank you for the detailed explanation of the migration issue you experienced. The route that you originally took to recover your system tried put a previous build version of OS X, which is not supported on the new 2015 version. By reinstalling OS X from Internet Recovery, the proper OS X build was installed on your new computer.
For a situation like this in the future, you can to use Migration Assistant to migrate your data from the disk you backed up to. To do that with how you currently make back ups, you will need to have the Disk Image mounted, which requires you to be logged into a user account that can be deleted after the migration is complete. Once the Disk Image is mounted in that temporary user account, you then can run Migration Assistant to migrate the data over. After the migration is complete, log out of the temporary account and log into the newly migrated account. You can then delete the temporary user account used for migration. I'm guessing (hoping) that we just need to wait for a 10.10.x Yosemite build to be released in the App Store that is compatible with the 2015 13" MBP to be able to create a USB Yosemite boot image on this new hardware?
