Podcasts stuck on preparing for download

In my case I can work around by pausing then deleting the download and then redownloading from the feed. I got tired of the messing around and went to Overcast for all of my Podcast except one that uses credentials and doesn't work in Overcast. So I still have to use my "work around" to get it.

This has been a problem for *years* and there are several threads about it. The only workaround for now seems to be rebooting my phone on almost a daily basis. That can't be Apple's final answer on a solution, is it? They're just... not going to fix the bug? Keep rebooting your phone?

I've got the same problem. Just says "preparing to download" and does nothing else.

I've had the same problem for the past few days! So annoying. I hope they fix this soon!! 😟

I am not sure if this make any sense but have you checked storage on your device, since I cleared some of the rubbish I have on my iPhone and this problem disappeared!!

I was having this same issue with my iPhone 6 for about 1.5 weeks and it appears that just restarting my phone has fixed the problem.

The good old "turn it off, wait a while and turn it back on again" worked for me!

Update: About 2 weeks later, I've had to restart my phone again, because my podcast downloads returned to the "preparing to download". Unfortunately, the restarting method doesn't appear to be a long-term solution
