If your laptop is a Mac that is a 2012 or later model running Yosemite you may want to look into using AirDrop: Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices - Apple Support

There are some services such as Continuity that use Bluetooth but they only require that Bluetooth be turned on for both devices. They are not paired.

Mar 16, 2015 7:44 PM in response to dakshbakshiby zaifromzai,Airdrop uses bluetooth as well a wifi, I'm assuming that BobT79 wants to use only bluetooth. thus airdrop will not work in such applications.
