Trade in water damage iPhone for newer model
My iPhone 5s fell into the water and doesn't turn on. I was wondering if it's possible to trade in my iPhone 5s for iPhone 6 model at a price cheaper than the retail price?

AT&T insurance is shotty. A friend who used to work with 2 cellphone carriers said that when the phones get replaced via insurance, the phones issued out are always "apple refurbished phones". So, you're not getting a brand new one-just a manufactured refurbished phone. Yikes.

Why on earth would you expect a new phone? If you have AppleCare + and you take your damaged phone to Apple, they replace your no longer new and now damaged phone with a refurbished phone. Phones that are remanufactured for as replacements go through more testing that phones just off the assembly line.
Nothing in my comment states that there's an expectation of a new phone. SMH. I was responding as to why redfreak07 is having this issue: Now this phone turns itself off every 5 mins, glitches quite often, and though it looks new, the battery system seems to be fried.
So, if you claim that "Phones that are remanufactured for as replacements go through more testing that phones just off the assembly line" then why is redfreak07 having that issue even after replacing it with a Apple Care replacement product? Exactly. My point here is that, just because the insurance company offers a replacement, don't expect it to be a perfect functioning phone because they issue out refurbished phones.

And, don't be surprised if, someday, you buy a new phone and it's defective out of the box. The stats on that happening are about the same.

I tried answering the questions in the Online - Get Started section and one of them was whether the phone had water damage. I answered yes to that and in the next step it said the phone had no value. It is possible you will get a different answer at an Apple Store but I wouldn't have high hopes.

You can turn in your damaged phone for a replacement 5S for $269. But you cannot trade it in for another phone model.
I had water damage to mine. I however have my phone through AT&T, and had insurance on my plan. So I traded mine for the same phone for $150. Now this phone turns itself off every 5 mins, glitches quite often, and though it looks new, the battery system seems to be fried.
Second time I've used the insurance, and I beginning to think the insurance just isn't worth it. Each time the phone's suck. Good luck though!
