Mouse settings revert to default at login

Hi. I have a Mac Mini (Late 2014) running OS X Yosemite V 10.10.2, and 4 users profiles on the machine. I have a bluetooth Apple keyboard and magic mouse connected to the Mac.

When I am logged on, I can set the mouse speed, scroll direction etc., and the Mac remembers my settings. However, when any other user logs on and changes their settings, the next time they log off and back on again the mouse settings have reverted back to their defaults - very annoying for them. If I plug a standard PC type USB mouse in to the Mac, the same thing happens - i.e. the Mac does not remember the mouse settings.

Can anyone please advise how these settings can be made permanent?

Thanks

As far as I know, the settings are those set by whoever pairs the mouse to their computer. Notice, when you go to Systems Prefs > Bluetooth, it says VIBNF's mouse. Plugging in a wired mouse requires you to set it up ... and that would be individual to that mouse. It is a good question but I cannot see how more than one mouse can be paired since pairing does not appear to allow for that.

Hi seventy one. I paired the mouse and it's settings stay as they should for me (and this is how everyone who logs on wants them to be). This issue only affects the other users users on the Mac - i.e. when 'User 2' logs in and changes the mouse settings (speed, natural scrolling off etc), whenever they log off and back on again and changes they made have been lost and they have to do it again.

I mentioned a wired mouse as the exact same problem happens with that. I am not trying to use two mice at once, rather I tried a wired non-apple mouse to see if the problem was repeated which is what happened. Therefore it seems to be an issue with Mac OS rather than the hardware.

Yes, I rather gathered that. I think the key to this is the word 'Pair'. It seems to me it would only apply to the one mouse (yours) paired with one computer (yours). Otherwise I guess they would say 'Linked' which allows for multiple linkages. Which brings us back to your original thought of if you can pair more than one mouse to a computer. I think the mouse, the pairing and the settings go together and that is why the Mac will not remember any alternate setting ... but I have to be honest, I can't offer this as a fact.
