I have a Power Mac g5 1.8 PCI-X with 8gb ram. Decided to update the FX5200 to the Nvidia 6800 Ultra 256mb DDL card. When the card is installed (bought from ebay), the computer displays no video, beeps once, all fans sound like a jet engine, and then I hear the apple boot tone. Never get any video. Could there be a problem with the video card?

There certainly could be, but is it a Mac compatible one, a PC only card with no Mac ROMs, or one flashed for Macs?
Its the 100% official Nvidia 6800 Ultra 256mb DDL card that would have come from Apple. so no flash or any of that nonsense.
Well, if the FX5200 still works, seems a good chance the card could be bad. 😟
My big question here is, since this is an early g5 could some sort of firmware or software update be needed to get this card working on this computer?

Yes, those are all in that folder. They are dated December 4th 2008 if that makes any difference.
Well, then I don't think it's a driver issue, only Firmware Update I recall is the one here...
Updated the firmware to that version (I was on f1) and I still just get a long beep, the apple sound goes, then usually it just shuts off after a little while.,
