Apple TV recently started buffering frequently

While watching apple TV (netflix, hulu, MLS, etc.) there is frequent buffering that occurs while playing. It didn't happen until about two weeks ago.The internet connection (router and modem) seem to be working on all other devices. I have tried wired and wireless. What else should I check?

Apple TV (3rd generation), might be 2nd generation

Hi snubakauai,

If you are having network connection issues on your Apple TV even on a wired connection, then I would start with a simple restart of your Appel TV. If that does not get you anywhere I would go through the steps of a restore to see if there is any change.

I tried checking the modem and changed the router and reset Apple TV. On a 20 minute show, it will stop and buffer about seven or eight times. I have run a speed test on wired and wireless devices and I get an average of 14 MBPS. I even ran the test on the computer while the TV was buffering.

Could the Apple TV unit be the problem? Might it need to be replaced? It is model A1427 and running software version 7.1.
