Do I need to have an Air Port device to use my home wifi?

When I bought my Mac they told me I had to have an Airport device to use my mac. Do I need to have this in order to use my Verizion wifi?

Your Mac has Wi-Fi built-in, all you need to do is connect to your Wi-Fi router.

I had an Airport but it died over night the lights are completely off. So I can just go in and connect all my apple devices via my Verizion router?

Yes, only if your Verizon is a Wi-Fi router.

Otherwise you have to use Ethernet cable to connect.
