ios 8.2 software update failed

Have been trying to download the new update on my iPhone 6 since yesterday but I keep getting the error "Software update failed: An error occurred downloading iOS 8.2"

I have restarted my phone several times, have tried doing the update via iTunes, but nothing works. I can't update/add any new apps until 8.2 is installed. Very frustrating.

Any error numbers given? If yes, check this article:

What happens if you choose to download the update only, and install it later when using iTunes on your computer?

Did you check the network settings, to make sure that iTunes can reach Apple servers?

No error number provided, just the vague "an error occurred downloading iOS 8.2" message.

No option available to download only. Button says "download and install"

i tried to run the update about 20 times already on my iPhone 6 128gb in the past week, so it can't be server traffic. It worked fine on my iPad on my first try.

Also tried via iTunes to no avail. iTunes indicates that wasn't able to backup my iPhone due do the lack of space in my PC which is not true, since it is a brand new EMPTY computer with 500gb capacity. There are NO FILES inside (all files are stored in external drives).

This is so annoying... I wish someone could shed a light on what is going on and how to fix it. Thanks.

that's right Gail. I left the memory capacity out as the error would pop up and advise that the update couldn't be done due to insufficient space on the device. I'm tackling this issue from a standpoint where the OP is receiving the error that they can't update to 8.2 without the out of memory pop-up. Regarding wifi, since the spectrum and amount of data is limited due to an OTA update via a hotspot, it's always best to use ITunes where a more stable ethernet connection has been established and sent via a USB 2.0 cable. In addition, there may be a stable connection to the device via wifi but a loss of data connection from the wifi router to the internet. These are the things that propagate and cause issues when done via wifi; I see too many issues with wifi updates but never seen an issue caused by an update done via iTunes.

I'm having this issue too....When trying to update my iPhone 6 to 8.2. ...using Ethernet link from router to PC, then usb from iTunes to Phone as usual.

The update just keeps failing.....multiple times over this last week.

When I look in my router system report it shows me that the adsl sync is being repeatedly dropped as soon as I connect the iPhone....every few mins.

It's as if the phone is causing my usually rock stable internet link to fail by interference some how ......the effect is consistent and has caused my snr margin to go up and my internet speed to drop by about 2mb this last week.

The adsl sync returns to normal as soon as I disconnect the phone from usb/PC. It remains wirelessly linked to the router though...and that seems OK.

I wonder what to do?

It's taken me a month....but I finally got my phone 6 to download and update to 8.3. I did it by opening ITunes, connecting the phone with a usb lead and managing the update from WITHIN the iPhone device itself...and not through iTunes....I have no idea why it has finally worked without continually knocking my adsl max router out every few minutes as it did before..... bit size probs? Anyhow seems OK now.
