What brand rechargeable batteries work in an apple battery charger?

I recently bought some Duracell HR6/NiMH AA batteries to supplement the apple batteries used in the apple charger.

They won't work.

What other brands or batteries will actually work? (for UK)

iMac (24-inch Early 2009), iOS 8.2

What is the rating of the Duracell batteries? The standard Apple batteries are 1900mAh, 1.2V. If they are significantly different than the standard Apple battery they may be drawing too much power from the Apple charger. I know that when my Apple batteries are very low, they draw so much power that the charger goes into "alarm" and will charge no further. However, when that happens, if I remove the charger from the outlet then reinsert it, it will then complete the charging cycle. Maybe try that or a charger made for those batteries(?).

For some products where the length from end to end may seem too short

should the contact be weak or batteries move about too much, users of

the Apple Charger found Energizer AA cells (of similar spec/type) longer

by a tiny bit; these would stay in place better & also not lose connection.

The Eneloop cells (former sanyo/ge) were said to be compatible with the

Apple Charger and a few years ago, had near identical specifications...

Over the past few years, there has been an evolving discussion of a sort

without a clear or current answer (viewing from present aspect) in here:

For other reviews, going back in time, with suggestions on additional battery

compatibilities, see online reseller's comments and reviews, such as amazon:

You may ask an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider &/or reseller

about the availability of Apple-branded rechargeable cells for this product.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂

If when using these other batteries in an Apple device, and they seem

a bit loose and lose contact with their power terminals, the remedy is

to get longer batteries. A mouse or other wireless product that loses

sync and needs to be messed with, may imply the batteries are not

staying connected in the device. This has been a common issue.

Also, the batteries themselves, of higher storage capacity, do not put

a draw on the charger; they would simply take longer to fully charge.

The problem with physical battery length between + and - terminals

and the fit into devices, has been more of an issue in actual use.

Hopefully these issues are few & far between... 😎
