I've made a silent Slideshow in iPhoto 9.6 (910.29)
What's the best way to share this with others who don't have Macs ?
And most are non-techies.

You can export the slideshow as a video file and put the video onto server (FRopbox or similar) where your friends can download it. Or burn a video DVD from the exported slideshow video. You will need authoring software to burn a video DVD, for example iDVD.

I've used the 'Export Slideshow' route, and now have a m4v file - is this what you mean by a 'video' ?
If so, how do I put this 'on a server' ?
And how easy might this be for others to download and view ?
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.
Or upload it to Youtube and they'll be able to watch it in their web browsers.

If the video file is less than 15 MB in size you probably can email to whomever you'd like to have it.
Or you can get a free account at YouTube.com, upload the video to it and send the link to the view to whomever.
