How Do I Play A Sound File (MP3, .WAV, Etc) in a Skype Conference Call?

Hi guys!

I, along with two other people, record a Gaming Podcast (www.playedpodcast.com) every Monday and am having a blast doing it! Everything works well, but I have a technical question here.

Question:
If I wanted to play a sound bite, for everyone to hear in the "conference call", while we're recording -how would this be done? For example, if a listener sends us an mp3 recording of a question they have, how can I play it so it's almost like a listner calling in to a radio show?

Technical Details:
We record each Podcast by me calling the two other hosts via Skype, using HijackPro to recording my Mic on one feed, and then recording Skype with another feed (so I can adjust audio levels seperatly from myself). Then I use Garageband to edit the podcast and create the M4A. Then, iTunes is used to encode the MP3 from that (as you can see. we post both on our site).

Thanks in advanced guys,
-Mark

Actually, do I have that one already.

I'm confused how to use the sunflower thing. I guess it just sits up in the bar (top, near the clock) and you're just support to link the application to another one?

I guess I link skype to the audio source (probably quicktime or itunes), and it will create a bridge to allow them to hear one another?

I just want to be able to play audio for the conferrence call on Skype.

Thanks again guys!

Well -I cannot figure out how thsi thing works.

I'm sorry, but it's starting to get frustrating. I just want to play pre-recorded audio during our podcast so that the other hosts can hear it. It sounds so easy, but apparently it's difficult to do on a Mac. I spent thousands of dollars on this thing because everything is suppose to be easier and alot of stuff has been -but not everything.

OK, so you've got SoundFlower installed. Also make sure you've got SoundFlowerBed installed and running.

Set your Sound System Preference to have Soundflower 2-Channel as the output.

Next, in Skype pref's, set the audio input as Soundflower 2-ch.
Keep the out put as either line out or whatever you had it as.

You should be good to go. I never use this so it may need some reconfiguring. The goal is to just not re-route your caller's audio back to them causing an echo or feedback loop.

Give it a shot. I'll monitor this thread to see if you have any further problems.
