Im unable to mount a windows share from my terminal session by the command mount_smbfs. Will post the error message shorty.
Can anyone suggest a solution?

This is wat i receive when i try to mount a windows share-
mount_smbfs //Admin@wpc01/Movies /Volumes/
Password for wpc01:
mount_smbfs: server rejected the connection: Authentication error
Kindly confirm what can be done to fix this issue?

Im able to mount with my domain account like this-
mount_smbfs smb://alan.j@wpc01/Movies /Volumes/Movies/
Where alan.j is a domain account of domain room\alan.j

you could try installing SAMBA as it appears Apples SMB does not always behave like the open source version
have you tried CIFS instead?

Thanks for the note. Would we be able to map windows share from the submit command from the terminal?
I don't know enough of the terminal to tell you yes or no. I have a group of windows shares on different systems and not all of them work with macs SMB depending on what OS is on the mac I happen to be trying it from.

mount_smb -W WORKGROUP //user@hostname/data ~/<Path to mount>

I now learnt how to mount a windows share. mount_smbfs smb://<accountname>@<hostname/dfsshare>/<sharename> /<Volume to mount>
With this, we 'd be able to mount a windows share on a mac..
