Both USB ports on my MacBook Pro have stopped being recognized. I can still synchronize my iPhone, but cannot use thumb drives or external hard drives. I've tried all the previously suggested remedies to no avail. Other thoughts, please.

That is odd that your USB ports are working to sync your iPhone but not working with thumb drives or hard drives. Do USB keyboards or mice work?

Thanks for the response Nubz. Unfortunately, I tried everything suggested with no joy. USB ports are registered on System but there seems to be no power to them.
Any and all other suggestions are most welcome. This one has me completely flummoxed!
If there are no power on them how do you connect your iPhone for sync
AH, now THAT'S what has me flummoxed, Dheeman. I can't charge my iPone from the USB, but I can still synch it! Makes zero sense to me. In fact, synching the phone is the only thing that DOES work on the USBs.
