Q: managing storage on 16 GB iPad2

I Keep getting a message that my storage is almost full on my iPad2. (It is 16GB).  storage usage says I have 1.4GB available.  I do not have movies or TV shows downloaded.  I have deleted a bunch of apps, photos and home videos.  I went into the photo app and permanently deleted the deleted photos. cleared Safari history.

The available storage remains the same..  I increased my iCloud storage to 20GB but no change.  I am not a gamer and have only Bubble Bust and Word Find. I have rebooted my iPad and still no change. I am baffled about what else I can do to decrease the load.  Would appreciate any suggestions.

When you open Settings->General->Usage...under storage select Manage Storage.  That will show you exactly what apps are taking up the space on your iPad.  Do you have a lot of emails?  IMessages?  Music?  iBooks?

Here's what I do in the event of incorrect/overbloated storage issues:

    1. Connect your iPad to the PC and do a complete backup using iTunes (make sure you have a backup all music, etc as well)

    2. Reset the iPad under Settings/General/Erase All Content and Settings (you'll need to disable Find My iPhone/iPad prior to doing this)

    3. After the reset, the iPad will be as you took it out of the box. Go through whatever setup is required (follow the on-screen prompts) , then restore the iPad using the backup you made in step 1.

This will usually clear out any misreported storage space on the device.

Your iCloud storage space has nothing at all to do with the storage space on the device...increasing it won't increase the physical storage space on the device. See the following for more info. You can also downgrade your iCloud storage space as well.

I only have ibooks on icloud with audible, no music. 79MB of emails in the mail program.  I have deleted most of my messages.  Have about 7 small, couple sentence conversations.  sThe apps don't add up to the amount of storage that is being used.
