My wife is playing Diablo III on a 2014 rMBP and her settings are the same I'm using on my 2012 iMac - all effects turned up for full beautiful carnage 🙂. My frame rates are marginally higher than hers - 2 to 5 per second. It looks good. I broke down and got the game for PlayStation 4 when it went on sale for $30 over the holiday and it looks as good on our computers as it does on the 50" HD tv.

I agree with Ogelthorpe though overall. Games tend to come later to the Mac than Windows, fewer of them make it (though I'd argue that means mostly the crud gets filtered out), and they run slower. However since I have BootCamp I can also so that it isn't the hardware that's the slowdown. Its generally the port. If your interest is in 3D games go for a PC or console.

yea i know that i had a gaming pc just i love mac os and want to keep all things on my one machine so i was wondering if it would work because i was going to setup my macbook pro on a stand connected to a monitor 1080p with keyboard and mouse but i think it will work because I've just downgraded my MBA 2013 to mavericks i had yosemite but it was using to much cpu i had better battery and cpu performance on my MBA when i had mavericks any way I'm getting 60fps MBA native res so 1440x900 the fps indicator does sometimes say 27-38 fps but you don't see it at all like nothing and I've always played 60fps so i know when frames drop so i think its going to work anyways but i am making a build up for a cheap gaming pc just for lol and sc2 won't be used for anything else but gaming and streaming game on twitch but would love a macbook pro for the screen and performance would that be a good upgrade from my macbook air 2013 4GB ram and 256 SSD or should i just wait till the next cpu updated because its not a big jump from last years model and the might do i design change this year your think?
