iPad 2 connects via iphone hotspot, but not router

I have a iPad 2 that refuses to see or connect to my "G" wi-fi network. Both my iphones and iPad mini connect to the same wi-fi network without any issues. But, the iPad 2 will connect to to my iPhone 5 via AT&T personal hotspot (wi-fi... is this really wi-fi?) and my mac via Bluetooth. I have reset the ipad 2 to factory settings, reset network settings and nothing is working to connect to a standard wi-fi network. Does this sound like the wi-fi antenna is not working?

If you are not seeing your WiFi network from your iPad 2 in order to join, you may want to try the additional steps outlined in the following article:
