Liquid damaged Logic board

I have acquired a liquid damaged 13 inch MBP from early 2011. The logic board was the only piece that showed corrosion. I tried the battery in a different computer and it worked, as well as the RAM and that worked as well. I took everything out of the computer and everything seems to be in good condition, is there anything on the logic board with taking off ( usb ports, RAM dock....)?

So here's my standard flap about spills.

How long ago did the spill happen?

"Whenever a liquid spill occurs the first thing that has to happen is the laptop should be shut down immediately. All power must be removed as soon as possible. It is especially important that the battery be disconnected and removed.

All affected parts must be removed from the laptop and carefully and closely inspected. Any involved area should be marked for special treatment.

No attempt should be made to start/restart the computer since this could potentially damage the logic board beyond all repair.

Then all affected parts would be washed in deionized water and blown dry with compressed air. (In a water spill the deionized water is probably not as critical. Depends on the mineral content of the water.).

This is especially true of the large chips on the logic board. Liquid can wick under them and cause havoc for weeks if not months and years after the incident.

The logic board should be placed in a drying/dehumidifing oven for at least two days. Longer depending on the spill. The keyboard is a separate matter"

I manage to save about 66% of the ones I've seen so far. Actually this MBP I'm on right now is the identical machine to yours and is one that I saved.

" is there anything on the logic board with taking off"

Probably no, everything is suspect since there was water damage. Plus those components are incredibly difficult to remove.

OK first, where did you obtain this MBP?

So it had the beer spill and it sat w/ the battery connected since last October until you got it? How many attempted start ups?

If there were too many start up attempts then it might be dead not recoverable.

Where is the corrosion located on the logic board. Near the CPU, GPU or any other large chips. Ones with a tiny gap between them and the logic board less than .1 mm.

So it's a judgement call whether to attempt resurrection. Too much corrosion to large chips, too much corrosion in general, too long on the battery, too many startup attempts - don't bother.

To remove the beer, vinegar, soak in ultrasonic bath for around 5 hours - dead guess.

Then soak in deionized water and small bit of detergent (Like Dawn no perfume.) 10 hours again ultrasonic would help.

Then multiple rinses in deionized water 5 hours each.

Blow dry w/ compressed air.

Dehydrating oven for at least 24 hours.

Don't know where you'd get a dehydrating oven. Had one at the lab in Chicago.
