Internet Issues

I seem to be having trouble connecting to the internet with a wired connection. Safari keeps giving me an error saying that "I'm not connected to the internet". However, when I connect the same cable into a different computer I'm able to connect to the internet with no problem. I'm trying to figure out whether or not my ethernet port is somehow blocked, or whether or I need to have my iMac serviced. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do here?

Does network preferences say that a cable is connected?

If so what IP address is specified?

Thanks for responding. When I go to network preferences. It says "Ethernet Not Connected".

If you go to System Report are the Ethernet ports listed under hardware?

Are you using the same cable end that work in another computer?

Try resetting the SMC and NVRAM
