I am using Yosemite. Every time I go to certain sites, I am told I need to download and upgrade Adobe Flash in order to view the site. It won't even let me say no, so after downloading and updating many times, I now close out Safari and reopen it so that I won't get the message. What is going on?

They may or may not be legitimate. You could end up downloading adware or worse. The safest procedure is to go directly to the vendor's site and check if there is an update: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

A genuine alert that Flash is outdated and blocked is shown on this page. Follow the instructions on the page in that case. Otherwise, the alert is not trustworthy and someone may be trying to scam you into installing malware. If you see fake update prompts on more than one website, or if you've already followed one of the fake prompts, ask for instructions.

Also, Adobe Flash has many updates often. I just keep on updating. You can look at the update versions. In fact, I just had to update again!
