Mar 19, 2015 4:39 AM in response to Mystermoby Grane Duke,Hi..!!
It seems that there is a faulty RAM in your friends Macbook pro... He needs to change it soon. A reliable place to buy 3rd party RAM is OWC. Please remember that Macs are very choosy when it comes to RAM, so you must only buy them by checking your RAM module number.
Whats the specification of your friends Macbook pro...??
Hope that helps.

Mar 19, 2015 4:50 AM in response to Mystermoby OGELTHORPE,I recommend that you take out the modules and clean the contacts as I suggested. If that does not solve the problem, then run an Apple Hardware test:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201257
That may provide some information, however an error free AHT is not definitive.
You can also run Rember from Kelley computing:
http://www.kelleycomputing.net/rember/
Run it overnight so that sufficient loops are executed.
I would not be overly concerned about the 2 second disparity.
Ciao.
