what will be lost when I reset my keychain?
My computer is telling me it can't find my keychain, and I just want to know exactly what will happen if I decide to reset it? I don't want to lose anything important.

You will have to re input your passwords for each site or app you open that you had stored in your old keychain.
You might try opening the Keychain application and see if your old one is there. Select it and try using Keychain First Aid to repair it.
